man, oh man, i loved strawberry nesquik as a kid. can't bring myself to touch the stuff today, but it still holds a place of longing in my heart. i had a ton of almond milk to use up before i left town, and plenty of berries about to turn to the dark side. the solution didn't take any effort, and it went down easy.
almond berry milk
- 1 cup almond milk
- 2 cups berries, washed (strawberries hulled and quartered)
- 1 Tablespoon white honey (or agave, if you're veganism is devout)
- splash of vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- 2 ice cubes
preparation:
- combine the berries and honey, mixing so all the berries get coated. let sit for a few minutes, until the berries are glossy and have sweetened.
- add the milk, berries, extract, and salt to a blender.
- while blending on high speed, drop in a couple of ice cubes. continue to blend until it's frothy and chilled.
makes 1 generous serving
