griffith observatory at sunset

getting cosmic in L.A.

we've left our cottage in topanga (do you like how i've already claimed it as "ours"?), and have spent the day in silver lake. it's been nice to see the actual city- and we saw a lot of it at griffith observatory. the building itself is beautiful:

but the view is outstanding:

good lord, LA goes on forever and ever. inside was fascinating too- we saw live footage of the sun, the stars, and the moon, a huge pendulum, a camera obscura, and a gigantic tesla coil (which wasn't activated). and it's FREE.

we watched the sunset on the roof, which was an excellent idea. the hollywood sign is there, but it was barely visible.
