inspiration day: frida kahlo

how can you not love a woman who choose to celebrate her facial hair?

there is so much to love about frida kahlo's style. the colors, the flowers, the mexican skirts, the jewelry (the occasional cross dressing). the images of her taken by nickolas muray after the development of color photography show a strikingly self assured woman owning the look that defined her:

black and white photos show a softer side, but still showcase a dedication to her signature style. even when she's not on full volume "frida", she still has a look all her own. Andre Breton described her artwork as "a ribbon around a bomb", and i think the same applies to her fashion.
