Temari Balls

More often than not, my projects become increasingly complicated and more time consuming than anticipated. It's easy to loose patience and interest. When the frustration level hits a peak, I take a breather and head over to nanaakua's photos of her grandmother's temari balls. They're a reminder of what "complicated" and "time consuming" really looks like.
These are just a smattering of the more than 450 temari that she's made in the past 40 years. Head over to the flickr stream and get mesmerized. To learn more about the history and meaning behind temari balls click here, and if you're feeling patient enough to start learning this craft, instructions can be found here and here, and martha stewart has a video of the process here.
