vintage crewel kit: ladybug 2

this bugger needs some legs.

i didn't think his appendages would take so long, but there were a lot of different stitches used in working his legs, hands, feets, and whiskers. his legs and hands used wool yarn, and the whiskers and feets used 6ply embroidery floss.

chain stitch:

satin stitch:

straight stitch:

back stitch:

buttonhole stitch:

time to buckle down and get into stitching his body. i have a feeling each side will be an investment, so i'll have to settle into a good scary movie or mary tyler moore marathon. not a worst case scenario.
