spicy resin bangles

spicy? yes. delicious? not so much.
it feels like the resin experimenting has been progressing, but for every achievement, there has been a set back. this time it was with sanding and polishing the pieces. the molds have gotten pretty beat up and are less than smooth at this point. thinking it was nothing a little wet sanding and polishing couldn't fix was a mistake. after painstakingly sanding and polishing, i still can't get the shine back. when i figure this one out, i'll pass it along. in the meantime, i have stumbled upon a trick to keep the top of the bangle looking nice.
- during the time the resin is curing, it has a tendency to sink in at the center, making it concave all around the surface
- after it's completely cured, remove bangle from mold. file off any extra resin around the edges, rinse and dry making sure that there is no residue left around the edge
- mix up a small amount of resin and carefully pour in the center of the concave area. the resin ice is super because it's "self doming". it will even itself out and fill up the middle, leaving a smooth surface.
