Vintage Crewel Kit: Squirrel 2

The best way to stay safe during severe weather? Indoor needlework! Unlike the fools at the shore tempting a "storm surge" to wipe them out, the craziest decision I made today was to go off road on the stitch instructions provided with this kit. It suggested filling in the tree stump with stems stitches, which didn't look that phenomenal in the photo. Having recently filled in a handsome ladybug with chain stitches, this seemed like a better way to go.

The texture and knit-like look of the stitches is much more interesting than what was called for. Sandy shmandy- a hurricane can't keep this critter down!
