2012 roundup: sewing

a time to weep, and a time to laugh. no shortage of either.

the sewing machine got quite a workout in 2012. hopes were high to put a dent in the mountain of fabric, but at the end of the year there was more than ever. here's a look back at the damage:

the quilt

god lord. this thing took damn near forever. painful from the first block to the last. not to mention deciding the pattern and sewing the whole thing together. 9 months of frustration, tears, blood, sweat. just talking about it is making me itch to start another.

first block: january 27th, last block: july 24th

quilt top 1: june 29th, quilt top 2: july 30th

quilt is done: september 7th, signed: september 12th

clothes

didn't really scratch the surface of the vintage pattern hoard. or vintage alteration pile. it's not easy getting this stuff done on a time frame. still, a few things got finished.

vintage pattern- shell 1: april 5th, vintage pattern- shell 2: may 17th

copying a vintage skirt: april 12th, wrap skirt success april 13th

muppet legs

by far, the most fun you can have with a sewing machine. and not just the legs, but the underpants. it's so hilarious to make underpants for a muppet.

muppet legs: january 23rd, muppet underpants: january 30th

not to worry, though! there are plenty of muppets that need stems in 2013. and reginald could use some new clothes. after i finish the next quilt. and a coat for myself. the list just keeps growing.
